Maxhas been designing clothes since he was four.
Eight-year-oldMax Alexander has made more than 100 gowns, created clothes for famous peopleand has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the youngest person todesign a runway fashion show. A runway is a stage that models parade along todisplay new clothes. Last month, Max showed off his latest creations at anevent for New York Fashion Week.
Maxasked his mum for a mannequin (a life-sized model of a person, which is usedfor making and displaying clothes) and told his family he was a dressmaker whenhe was four. His first designs were made of ribbons and scraps of material heldtogether by tape or knots. Aged five, Max started sewing lessons with aprofessional teacher, and in 2021 he launched his own clothing label, Coutureto the Max.
Maxspends months coming up with his eye-catching designs and turning them intoreal clothes. His mum, Sherri Madison, told The New York Times that designingclothes is what Max enjoys doing most, explaining, "It's really nodifferent than having a child who plays soccer."
Maxsays his favourite creation is the first dress he made. Many of his clothes aremade from recycled materials including ties, the sacks used to transport coffeebeans and an old wedding dress he transformed into a new creation.
